Thanks to Sassalynne
Thanks to Sassalynne

An excerpt from the Blog of Sassalynne:
"I love colour, and satisfy my thirst for that by dyeing using a variety of dyes. This is a great help in my personal work as I can incorporate unusual fibres, etc., when using my lovely needlefelting machines. I add further embellishment by way of hand dyed papers, machine embroidery and hand stitching. I enjoy teaching others to love colour too, and my method of teaching dyeing using procion dyes is both simple and logical".

| HandDyed Yarn by Sassalynne w Blues & Purples |
Viewing Sassy's Blog: Sassalynne - What Different. about a month ago I came across something I have been waiting for, for quite a while; one of her beautiful Hand Spun, Hand Dyed Yarns! She had just completed two very beautiful Soft Chenille Yarns and posted them on her Blogs. It must have been kismet as I viewed that p;articular Blog (one of her many Blogs) that morning.
One of her Yarns shown brings forth the vivid colors of various blues, purples, deep rose, moss, and goldenrod; as if one were walking through a Summer Garden. (above)

| Hand Knitted Chenille Scarf by MagdaleneKnits.etsy.com |
I immediately purchased this Chenille Yarn with its various hues of blues and purples. As soon as I received the package, and saw the beautiful colors, I immediately took out my knitting needles (size #10) and began knitting away. Sassy's eye for color truly came through with each stitch. Working myself with Swarovski Crystals in my jewelry, all I could think of as each color interlocked with the other, was how much they reminded me of "crystals in the sunlight". The result is the Hand Knitted Scarf, now in my Shop, "MagdalaneKnits"

Thanks Sassy for this beautiful Hand Spun, Hand Dyed Chenille Yarn. Looking forward to your next batch!!!

Wrapped in Love
Wrapped in Love
“Blankets wrap you in warmth, quilts wrap you in love”
When I am not busy designing my jewelry, or crocheting and knitting until my fingers are numb; I also enjoy quilting.
My very first quilt was made for my daughter about 30 yrs. ago.
As you can see my stitches are not exactly straight. Of course, I was using my sister’s machine from High School.
As you can see from my other quilts, I have improved with each one. Since I still cannot read (or understand) quilted patterns, each quilt was designed by myself. For each quilt I design, I always sketch out what I want to create in way of design and color.
The “Angel” quilt, which is a “queen size”, was made for my friend in India. The red backing is Silk which I received from India, so it was perfect for this quilt!
When my daughter became engaged, she asked if I would make them a quilt, her request – (not too flowery!). At their engagement dinner I gave them the fabric, and did manage to finish before the Wedding! My extra added touch is the Heart in the center with both Kelly and Danny’s names embroidered in the center (yes, I do embroidery also!); also note in the white squares the tiny embroidered hearts.
Next with the announcement of a “little one” on the way, I couldn’t wait to start working on Zachary’s quilt! Kelly had always loved the “vintage” designs of the Pooh, and did the nursery in Vintage Winnie the Pooh. It was not easy to find A Vintage fabric, searching every site online, but found what I wanted. Again after sketching out the design, using a new fabric “Minky” in a Baby Blue for the backing, a “baby quilt” was made. As you can see Zachary loved it and is still sleeping with it!
I have made quilts for my nieces and nephews as Shower gifts, and special occasions. I also made this “Flower Fairy” quilt for my little niece, Maya, in Chicago. As you can see, she absolutely loved it! Again, I used “Minky” fabric for the backing in a pale pink.
I plan to start adding some of my “mini” quilts, which can be used as wall hangings, shortly in my “MagdaleneKnits” shop. In a few of them I used pictures of my sister and me when we were very young. If you would like a custom made “mini quilt”, I will just need you to send me a picture.
So as you can see, my fingers are always busy creating!
