The Rose

The First Rose of Spring

Rose:  "Nicole"

My favorite flower has always been the Rose ever since I planted my first rosebush, the "Peace Rose", when I was very young.  Ever since then, I always await the bloom of my "First Rose of Spring".  This year's Rose is called "Nicole".  As you can see it is pale pink in color with a darker pink edging, and very fragrant.

Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun's love
In the spring becomes the rose.

An excerpt from the Blog of Sassalynne:

"I love colour, and satisfy my thirst for that by dyeing using a variety of dyes.  This is a great help in my personal work as I can incorporate unusual fibres, etc., when using my lovely needlefelting machines.  I add further embellishment by way of hand dyed papers, machine embroidery and hand stitching.  I enjoy teaching others to love colour too, and my method of teaching dyeing using procion dyes is both simple and logical".

HandDyed Yarn by Sassalynne w Blues & Purples

Viewing Sassy's Blog: Sassalynne - What Different. about a month ago I came across something I have been waiting for, for quite a while; one of her beautiful Hand Spun, Hand Dyed Yarns!  She had just completed two very beautiful Soft Chenille Yarns and posted them on her Blogs.  It must have been kismet as I viewed that p;articular Blog (one of her many Blogs) that morning.

One of her Yarns shown brings forth the vivid colors of various blues, purples, deep rose, moss, and goldenrod; as if one were walking through a Summer Garden. (above)

Hand Knitted Chenille Scarf by MagdaleneKnits.etsy.com

I immediately purchased this Chenille Yarn with its various hues of blues and purples.  As soon as I received the package, and saw the beautiful colors, I immediately took out my knitting needles (size #10) and began knitting away.  Sassy's eye for color truly came through with each stitch.  Working myself with Swarovski Crystals in my jewelry, all I could think of as each color interlocked with the other, was how much they reminded me of "crystals in the sunlight".  The result is the Hand Knitted Scarf, now in my Shop, "MagdalaneKnits"

Her other Silk Chenille Yarn was Hand Dyed in a burst of Autumn colours. (shown above)

Thanks Sassy for this beautiful Hand Spun, Hand Dyed Chenille Yarn.  Looking forward to your next batch!!!
